Software used for the evaluation of STIVi
==========================================

To Install
===========
The software is a Web application, so you need a Web server to run it.

- Step 1: Edit the file index.html and replace the URL in the line <base href="/STIVi/"> with the directory under your Web site. For example, if you want to access the application under the url http://www.sitename.edu/~myname/STIVi, you need to replace the line with <base href="/~myname/STIVi/">

- Step 2: Upload full directory STIVi/ to your Web server under the directory you specified above (e.g., under ~myname/).

To Set the Participant
======================
The Participant Id is specified as a parameter on the URL:
http://www.sitename.edu/~myname/STIVi?pid=1

To Use
========
We recommend Google Chrome (ideally version 111) on Mac OS or MS Windows 11. The application has not been tested on other browsers or platforms.

The main interface shows the Canvas with basic drawing capabilities. There is also functionality for logging and saving the workspace.
Note: the UI includes some additional functionality (e.g., taking snapshots from the video to use as scaffolds on the canvas), but it was not evaluated and is not mentioned in the paper.

To open a video, you need to press the last button on the toolbar and choose from the four available videos. The ones with the asterisk will open the extended interface of STIVi on a new pop-up window. The ones with no asterisk will open the BASELINE. You may need to resize the opened window to adjust the visibility of the transcript below the chapter thumbnails.

To activate the on on-sketch navigation without a dedicated pen hardware, you can press the CTRL or ALT key.
